I want a family active holiday in Croatia

Families spend too much time in the digital. So it’s no wonder, more and more families are searching ‘I want a family active holiday’ for my children. Parents understand the power of nature and what it can do for our spirit. Mother Nature has all of life’s answers. The key is to ask the right question to begin with.

Where is the best place for a family activity holiday in Croatia? We’d have to say just south of Split. It’s a choice of 3 places – Podstrana, Omis or Brac island. These three places will deliver the summer magic. They have the best entry point to all the best possible adventure excursions. From canyoning and river tubing to kayaking and white water rafting.

Should we book the tours individually or join an organised family group tour? If you have children aged between 11 and 20 years old, 100% you should be joining a 1 week organised family active week. The difference is night and day! You’ll want to buddy your children with other children their own age. If parents want a holiday with teenagers, they need to meet like minded families.

Do you always have to be social, if joining a big group of families? No you don’t. There’s plenty of time and space within the itinerary for you and your family to be alone (if you choose). After activities, families can relax on their own or together. Go at your pace, there are no expectations. Note though, teens often love hanging out with each other.

I want to go on a family adventure tour with similar aged teenagers as my own. How can I guarantee that will happen? Just ask your 1-1 support manager the ages and genders of children already booked on. We are happy to give that information.

Is Croatia too hot in the summer for family active holidays? Croatia in the summer has the perfect temperature to enjoy adventure tours. You’ll need the warmer weather, to take on the river rapids and cool waters of the canyons.

Is Dubrovnik a good place for family adventure holidays? If travelling by yourselves as a private booking, Dubrovnik is fine. But there are not any holiday bases, where all the families can be hosted in the same building. We wouldn’t advise booking a family active week in Trogir or Dubrovnik when placed into private apartment, separated from each other. It takes away the social contact between the teenagers. Often these properties don’t have a swimming pool, which is essential.

Which of your Croatian family holidays offer Zip lining? The Cetina Zip line course runs throughout the summer, you only need 24 hrs in advance to book a place. It’s situated very close to all our family adventure bases, so our families do go ziplining. It’s a great experience, that we’d recommend doing as an optional extra (as its so cheap to do on the spot). Top tip – where some companies offer it in their main itinerary, often they are booking the worst time slots. definitely ask, what time slot they will offer. Nobody wants to be dragging their teenagers up to early in the morning. To book Zip lining in Croatia, just use the online booking form or call their office. The Omis zip course is professional and comes with excellent reviews on Google and Trip Advisor.

What is the philosophy behind your Family activity vacations in Croatia? We’re all about the connected experience. Connecting parents with their teens by sharing incredible memories. Times you’ll never forget. Like spinning around on a rubber ring, bouncing down rapids and singing at the top of your voices. Parents become kids, teenagers grow up and somewhere in the middle of nature we meet in the middle. For some families our Croatia Family Activity vacations are life changing. We’re very proud of that. We like to remind mums, dads and children to let go. Be in the moment. Meet new friends, jump off some rocks and share a drink one the beach. Our magic formula is simple. All our families stay in the same private villa, in their own private apartments. If not in your apartments, we host families in the same hotel. It’s all about being together and exploring the wonders of the Dalmatia region.

We’d love to do a boat excursion, is that possible? It’s very popular for our families to hire a private motor yacht. Depending on the boat size, prices are often 50 – 90 Euros pp. Some come with food and and wine. We wouldn’t recommend sailing for 7 nights for teenager holidays, they’ll never meet enough teens their own age. It’s better to book onto our Family Adventure weeks in Omis.

Where is the best Croatia island for a family holiday? Brac island is our new one recommendation. No other island comes close to offering more. Brac is only 50 minutes from the mainland. The closest port is Split, which connects to Supetar Port on Brac. You’ll find numerous amounts of incredible villages, stunning countryside and perfect blue flag beaches. Most years, Brac wins cleanest sea water in the whole of Europe. This is the most pristine place to visit. For families travelling with teenagers, Brac has a lot to offer. From rock climbing and SUP boarding to Windsurfing schools and downhill mountain biking. Liveliest towns on Brac are BOL and SUPETAR. Our secret top tip for Brac island is the shepherds walk, one of the coolest hikes on the planet.
